...is not "PARTY TIME," contrary to the thinking of one little 2 year-old girl in this family. I'm not sure, but I think this misconception had its beginnings during our camping trip back in June. The cousins would dance from tent to tent at our campsite, while the adults played games, often chanting, "Party, party, PARTY!" And little SCC thought it was the greatest thing. (You hear that, Olsen cousins? This is your fault!)
Some nights, like tonight, while her older siblings are settling down in jammies and getting ready for stories, etc., SCC protests, "It's not bedtime, it's PARTY time!" and proceeds to jump on the bed and run around the room. Usually we push on through the bedtime routine and just hope she will conform, and I'd say that she usually does. Tonight has been one of those nights, though, where she has continued to get out of bed and come upstairs ready for fun.
It is now about 10 PM, so we've resorted to the child lock...at least until she falls asleep...
Don't turn us in.
I'm remembering that TLC had some interesting bedtime habits at age 2 as well. Now he protests to bedtimes and restless nights in a slightly more mature way. He simply tells us, "It's taking a long time for it to be the next day."
"It's taking a long time..." is the way TLC begins most of his complaints these days. One night recently, after waking up to use the bathroom and while standing at the toilet, he expressed his impatience with such a rude interruption to his sleep this way: "It's taking a long time for this potty to be done."
