Waiting in love

Sweet thoughts from my mom:

May 30, 2014 12:19 AM
I am sitting next to Grandma right now and she is in a peaceful slumber. All six of us are together  as we share stories and memories. We are all so tired but no one wants to leave. I think grandma has lived such a wholesome life that her organs are slow to shut down. Marsha has provided her expertise to help guide us through the end of life process.  She explained that our mom might soon develop pneumonia and to expect her breathing to become labored. She emphasized that Grandma won't be conscious of fear or pain.  So we wait in love of our mother. We talked about the similarities of birth and death in the sense that people are waiting or welcoming on both ends.  I had the opportunity to talk with Val today and asked her to share with Jodie and Tracey. I wish I had the energy and stamina to visit with each of you.  I look forward to seeing you all and holding you in my arms.  I may hang on a bit longer and tighter.  A mother's love is so special and we feel honored and privileged to help our mother have a gentle passing.

I will try to keep you updated and will call each of you when our mom is gone from us.  Don't worry about me.  This has been a beautiful experience and given me perspective on the cycle of life.  We have gone from anger for the slow release of our mom's physical pain, understanding for the need to let nature run it's course, and many life lessons learned along the way.  We all feel close to each other and to our mother, even though she can't respond as she did before the stroke.
Love, Mom
