TLC 2013 update

Next up for updates is TLC.  This is what he was up to today: Superhero Academy up at Cub Country.

He's a good looking cub scout.  Today was his first experience up at camp.  He tells me that Me-Man was his super hero name, which I bet he came up with himself.  I'm pretty sure he forgot to leave any dirt up the canyon--either that, or grew an extra layer of dirty skin with his super Me-Man powers.  It was beyond what a shower could tackle, so I sent him out back to run through the sprinklers first.  Tomorrow will be another fun day of dirty fun.

The best way to describe TLC lately is to just give examples of his silly side.  This year he was always bringing things home from school that would crack me up...
Right up to the very end...

TLC was in Mrs. Miller's class for 2nd grade.  She was a nice, calm and patient woman, and very good for TLC.

The big end-of-the-year event for TLC's class was the puppet show.  Each group of kids wrote a script,  then designed and created their own puppets.  It was a long process of applying layers of paper mache and paint, then attaching wigs and costumes.  I put to use my all-but-forgotten crochet skills in making wigs for several of the puppets.  I think I'm getting it down to a science, now that I've had two kids in second grade--by the time MEC comes around, I'll be whipping out wigs left and right.

TLC's puppet was an evil wizard named Conlez.  Can't you just imagine what type of sinister things this guy would have to say?

He and three other boys made up a clever play about a king and a knight trying to stop the evil plan of the crafty wizard and his spells.  The boys did a great job; it was fun to hear them do things with their voices, like talk in slow-motion, or high-pitched like a squeeky shoe.  I'll let TLC tell more about it:
It was about Conlez, the evil wizard, who went to the kingdom and stole the king's crown and then put a spell on the king and the knight to make them go really slow. Conlez the evil wizard went back to his lair while Dave and King Rogar went there slowly. When the spell ran out they where about there.  Then Conlez put another spell on them, but they blocked it with Dave's shield, so that the king and the knight wouldn't get hit, but it bounced off the shield and hit Conlez, turning him into a sock and a shoe.  The king and the knight got the crown back and lived happily ever after...until next time...

When he wasn't working on puppet plays, TLC kept busy this spring with soccer, computer games, piano practicing (he played in his first Federation in March), and asking his dad when they could play the next round of [insert board game here].

He's excited to play Impact soccer in the fall, with a couple of boys he knows.  He really loves the game.  Carries his ball around for security, I think.

Luckily, we haven't had any more brushes with danger with this boy.  That was as much scare as I can handle for a while.
