this month is such a special one...

It's definitely birthday time around here.  SCC turned 5 yesterday, CAC turns 3 next week, MEC turned 5 months old last Sunday.  And while we're at it, TLC and I each celebrated half-birthdays earlier this month (okay, we didn't really celebrate, but we could have).

Some of the fun birthday events included a sprinkler/shark kid pool party with a few neighborhood friends, swimming lessons, ice cream cones in the afternoon and cake and more ice cream in the evening, lots of presents, smiles all day long.
RVC and TLC snuck into SCC's room late at night to decorate a bit.

I asked SCC today what she misses about being 4.  She didn't have much to say at the moment, but here's her answer to "What's good about being 5?"
"Being able to jump high on the tramp.  That's actually one thing I miss about being 4...jumping lower.
Are you excited to start school?
I'm excited-cited-cited.
Turning 5 is really something, because yes, it means you get to go to school.  SCC's birthday happened to fall on registration day over at Rosecrest, so we picked up all kinds of paperwork, signed up on all kinds of volunteer lists, and most importantly, found out what teachers the kids will have this fall.  SCC is happy to be in Mrs. Neeley's kindergarten class.  She's definitely ready for school and I'm very excited for her.  And wow, that makes 3 kids in school, for part of the day anyways.  Life will begin to feel pretty different once summer is over.

Little MEC is growing right along.  One thing that will be different before we know it is a little guy moving around.  For now, he's just rolling, but he is starting to pull his knees up under himself, so look out.  We still love to hold him, though.
All smiles with Aunt Val

Here he is on his first camping trip earlier this month

At 5 months he plays a lot more, grabs his feet, loves to stand up and play in his exer-saucer.

And here's something else that has caught on in the last month...
