Labor Day

Don't worry.  When I started this post, it was still September, so not too late to talk about Labor Day.

We had a short but fun trip down to Vernal to visit cousins.  Grams and Papa joined us for the drive.

We spent part of the morning of Labor Day at a beach about 5 minutes away from Holly's house.  The kids  braved the chilly air and swam and played while most of us adults stayed bundled in our sweatshirts, looking on.  It was a fun place to be together and we'll have to make it out again next summer.

I had forgotten about this series of photos I took of the kids getting in the water.  TEC gave them a little pep talk up front about the "right way" to go swimming on a cold day.  The plan was to count to ten and then run in as a group.

You'll notice that, with each shot, my kids slowly drop out out of the race, until it was just TEC and all four Olsen kids in the water.  It was quite humorous to watch.

Poor TLC had intentions of getting in with the rest, but when he tried to jump in, he slipped on some grass/moss.  He took a tearful breather before heading back down to the water.

RVC and SCC just chickened out, I think.  But eventually they got coaxed into getting in.

In our family, we work on being brave and doing hard things.

Sometimes it just takes us a while.

Of course, who am I to talk?  I was bravely standing on dry ground, hiding behind the camera.

I would have been with you, too, on the beach! Brad would have been brave, though. Looks like a great weekend!
