Two-wheelin'

Back when it was spring weather instead of this SNOW that we've had the past couple of days....

These three lead us out of the driveway on Monday night for our first family bike ride of the season.  As you can see, we've come a long way since last year.  I can't tell you how fun it was to ride around the neighborhood along side these confident two-wheeling kiddos.

TLC and SCC said goodbye to training wheels at the end of last week.  I'm excited for them and love to see how proud of themselves they are.  And I love that they have another thing fun to spend time doing outdoors.  I have to say, though, that maybe it was a bit too easy this time around.  Where was the struggle?  Where were the tears, skinned knees, and "hang in there" pep talks I was preparing myself for?  I suppose they'll have to experience all that with something else in life.

My plan was to work with TLC for a while and then try SCC sometime this summer.  The rain set us back a bit.  Then, on a nice day, we had a half hour or so before a dentist appointment, so I thought we'd try it a few times.  To my surprise, he picked it right up.  I ran in to get the camera (I wasn't expecting to need it yet!) and while I was taking some pictures, SCC told me she wanted to try.  Again, I saw that we had just a few more minutes before we'd need to go pick up RVC from school and get to our appointment, but I thought I'd let her try.  And, before I knew it, I was trying to get a few pictures of her as well.  Crazy.

So, anyhow, we're up to a fun summer of riding ahead.  CAC did pretty well in the bike trailer behind her dad--actually, better by herself than when she had had to share it with her sister, so maybe it's all for the best.
