I have to remind myself that this blog is for me...not you.
That's why it's okay that I'm just getting around to posting pictures that have been sitting on my camera for months.
And it's why I can post something about Valentines Day 2010 even though it's almost the end of March.
We've gotten used to our bare kitchen walls once again, but for the {short} month of February, we got to admire a wall covered with notes like these. We called it our "heart attack" for Valentines Day.

Valentines Day isn't too fancy around here, but we have a few traditions that we're starting to make more concrete. What I remember about Valentines Day growing up, was that I always got a valentine from my dad. It may have been from both of my parents early on, but I think, in the later years, it was my dad that continued the tradition of sending us flowers for Valentines Day. I think it struck me while I was away at school and receiving flowers by mail, just how special that was. And I love that I never had a boyfriend or messy breakup all those years to spoil my rosy perception of this otherwise silly holiday. It was always a day I felt special and loved.
So, we've tried to carry on this tradition in our family. TEC takes care of the girls, and I take care of the boys. If you're thinking that the burden of this arrangment falls more on TEC than on me and how can that be fair, you're right. But that's the way it should be on Valentines Day. I did have a fun time thinking of creative ways to make my boys feel special. TLC is still using his "never expires" coupon good for an extra big squeeze and a kiss.
I was about to leave this day alone, but now I'm glad I've taken the time to write some of this down.
So, happy Valentines Day.
And (while I'm at it) Pi Day.
And St. Paddy's.
And (as of yesterday), Happy Spring!
