Doing Lunch

I had "lunch in" today with 4 very fine friends. It's something I do every day, but today, for some reason, I especially enjoyed it.

Sandwiches, apple slices, chips (a rare treat!), glasses of milk.

RVC told us a little about today's kindergarten field trip to the Clark Planetarium--about how she learned that you can't just land a rocket ship on Jupiter or Saturn if you want to, and that there is another Joshua and another Kate in the afternoon class, just like in her morning class.

The kids enjoyed welcoming the newest member of our lunch group--CAC seemed to sense that she was more a part of things as she sat in her swing and gave some rice cereal another try (so far, she loves the spoon and tolerates what comes with it okay--not crazy about it still).

Lots of smiles, sun through the window, no big schedule to keep.

There are many crazy moments in my day, so I appreciate the calm, simple ones.

CAC's run with solid foods comes with the 6 month mark she hit two days ago. She had a checkup yesterday, complete with 4 shots (including a first dose of the flu vaccine) and an oral dose of the rotavirus vaccine. At 6 months, she weighs 14 lbs, 4 oz and measures 26.5 inches. Doing great.

TLC was also in for a well-child visit--all 4.1 years of him--hard to believe he's that old. He had his first set of kindergarten shots, which was not his favorite part of the visit, but he handled it well.

And here are a couple of pictures I took a while ago.

There was a time when I bathed my kids all at the same time; it doesn't happen any more. In fact, there are few days when you'll find all four of them simultaneously clean. This was one of them, hence the pictures (plus, I needed a picture to continue the hooded-towel-after-bath shot tradition I had going with the older kids...). Forget that the baths really happened in shifts, with RVC opting for a shower, and that mom soon remembered why she does not make this a nightly ritual.

That was a cute post! I dine in, quite frequently, with a very charming party of 2 myself. The pics of the kids are too cute!

Such cute kids! I don't blame you on not bathing them at the same time. I can barely handle two at a time. ;)
