Happy Easter

We had a beautiful Easter weekend. Saturday morning we joined in on a community Easter egg hunt at Evergreen Park. They had different areas roped off according to age. Ours was the 2- to 4-year-old area. When the signal was given, the kids ran in to gather up plastic eggs. TLC ran straight ahead to one egg and started to open it to get to the good stuff. After some encouraging shouts from his parents behind the ropes, he finally went after a second egg. SCC got two eggs right inside the ropes from us, but was a little skeptical of the whole thing. RVC, our more seasoned egg hunter, returned with a full basket of eggs.

Not that I was concerned about the kids getting enough sugar this weekend, mind you. Holly and LaVell and their kids joined us for some cupcake sampling from So Cupcake. They were delicious, but alas, at the price of a dozen cupcakes, will most likely remain a seldomly indulged treat for this household.

Saturday evening we got a sitter for the kiddos and went to see the performance of TEC's grandfather's The Redeemer at the Tabernacle. It was nice to pause and reflect on the life and mission of the Savior through music and scripture. It made for a special part of the Easter weekend.

Sunday was a little more hectic than I would have hoped for Easter morning, but we did enjoy a nice breakfast and mini egg hunt. Church was nice and TEC did a great job getting the crew there on his own, since I had a choir rehearsal before the meetings. I got to enjoy a bit of Primary as substitute pianist during singing time, which was fun.

We did enjoy some sunshine in the afternoon after church while SCC napped. RVC and TCC had fun playing with their new non-spill bubbles and for the most part stayed out of the dirt.

Val and Ben and their kids came over for Easter dinner. Ham, cheesy "them good potatoes," asparagus, jello salad, and rolls--pretty typical menu for the day. It was nice to spend time with them.

Easter was also my mom's birthday this year. We didn't get to see her on her special day, but wished her well over the phone and I'll be joining her and my dad and sisters tomorrow for a post-birthday lunch date. Looking forward to that.

What a fun Easter! Such cute kiddos! And we were watching Music and the Spoken Word today (the re-run as we are on Eastern time) and noticed the selection from "The Redeemer." I said to Brad, "I bet that's Ted's grandpa." Well, what do you know, it was!
