Z is for zoo...

...but not today. It was supposed to be our last day of preschool (we along with 3 other 4-year-olds and their moms did a little co-op this past year--it was a fun experience for me and RVC, of course, loved it) and we were to spend it at the zoo in honor of the letter Z, but we woke up to a very grey and rainy day.

RVC was disappointed and a little confused. The night before, I had said the prayer at bedtime and thanked Heavenly Father for the rain (I really am grateful that I haven't had to run the sprinklers yet this year and that our garden is getting lots of natural watering), but I also prayed that there might be enough of a break in the rain for us to enjoy some time at the zoo.

This morning RVC asked, "Why didn't Heavenly Father listen to you?" We then talked about how maybe the plants needed rain today more than we needed to visit the zoo, and that there would be other zoo trips. RVC then offered her theory: "Maybe Heavenly Father was just being silly. He just dropped the rain to be silly!" She seemed pretty amused by this idea, as was I.

Our last minute back-up plan was to all meet here and play. The kids played and we managed to talk a little about animals at the zoo and read a clever book called Q is for Duck, which I had meant to use back when talked about the letter Q, but had had trouble finding. We then gave each child a little certificate of achievement and had some cake.

That is a great story. I'm sorry you missed the zoo, but appreciated R's perspective. Sometimes life is like that... just plain silly.

Don't you love the way their minds work! It's nice to get a laugh out of the funny things they say! Briel used to think that Heavenly Father turned the lights off when the sun went down. Guess she's kind of right. :) As you can tell they finally got our internet going again. Thanks again for coming over today! It's fun to get to know you better and to have a friend for Briel. :)
