We were never too concerned about the breath-holding spells after the surgery; while it wasn't apparent exactly what triggered them, it made sense to us that they were onset by a combination of TL being out of his element, in some pain, and tired. A team from neurology was consulted and came to the conclusion that a video EEG would be helpful, so they set him up on that. We were a bit uneasy about it, mostly because we remembered how traumatic the EEG had been back in May (try explaining to a sleep-deprived 15 month old why he needs to hold still so a stranger can measure, mark and then attach electrodes to his head). It ended up not being too bad this time--maybe because he was already hooked up to enough tubes and wires...what was a few more? He had a couple of spells while the technician was setting it all up, but we did our best to distract him with songs, Cheerios, and whatever was on the TV. He is one little trooper! They'll keep monitoring his brain until sometime tomorrow. His head is all wrapped up to keep the electrodes in place and the wires are strapped out of the way. Once we get back home, I'll attach a picture of our cute little guy.
Here he is, eating a carrot stick, Ernie by his side.
TE has been quite the trooper himself. He has yet to step foot outside the hospital since Thursday. Tomorrow we're hoping to work things out so he can have a break. Today Gma and Grpa B and the girls picked me up from the hospital and we headed over to the mall to find a Build-a-Bear store so we could use the gift cards we got from Aunt Tracey and Uncle Christian for Christmas (our little mall back home doesn't have all the Big City fancy stores:)). RV picked out a purple bear for herself (much to mom's chagrin) and a brown bear for TL. She is very excited to give it to her brother tomorrow--it will be her first time seeing him since the surgery. She even named the bear "Little Buddy" (which has always been her nickname for TL--that made me smile).
RVC...giving both bears a "bath."
