MEC turned 3 and on we went

I am only three days late in writing about our latest birthday girl, but I better squeeze in a post about little MEC first. He turned 3 at the end of February and is one fantastic kid.
His birthday wishes were: a donut, a trip to the park, and a Thomas the Train cake. Happy to report that all his wishes came true on his big day. It's a good thing that he's only three because, any older, and I'm not sure he would have been alright with us throwing piano lessons and grocery shopping onto the birthday agenda.
MEC's favorite things right now are trains, Thomas and Friends in particular, all cars and trucks, balls, playing on pbskids games on the computer, riding his strider bike, and reading favorite stories like _The Little Engine that Could_. He is able to do more and more on his own and is at the age where he simply cannot be rushed. I often fail to leave ample time in our daily rush for him to choose just the right socks, put his shoes on in just the right way and in just the right location, get into the car on his own and buckled all by himself. Mom is forced to take several mental "time-outs" as she waits for this independent soul to set the pace for the day. Perhaps it is good for me.
MEC has an eye for contemplative photography lately. Here are a few of his choice pieces:

I love this handsome, happy boy who makes me smile each day and makes our family complete.
