It was a long winter with many days of endless inversion. I had almost forgotten what sky looked like the morning I looked out our front door and saw that strange blue color to the west.
Now we're looking at just one more week of school before summer vacation. We've even had a few days warm enough for this:
So what happened to Spring? I doubt I can sum it all up here, but I will do my best to document the highlights of our comings and goings the past few months.
Some of my favorite things about Spring are the activities that pull us outdoors. Easter was early this year, but the weather was nice.
We're back to being able to do family bike rides, provided everyone's tires are fixed all at the same time. MEC inherited the Strider bike, which he loves, and still fits in the handlebar seat on my bike.
CAC moved up in size, and hops on the tag-along when we plan to go farther away. TEC and I even took a date ride up Big Mountain before the pass was opened to traffic this Spring.

It was soccer all around for the three bigs this Spring. Saturday will be our last game of a great season. TL and SC played on the same team, which made things easier on the family cheering section.
I missed posting about RVC's birthday back in April, but I'm just going to have to do a separate post about that girl. In fact, that's my plan for all my kids, so stay tuned.
General Conference is another favorite part of the Spring. TLC has his first experience attending a live session at the Conference Center with Papa. The rest of us, apparently, had fun with prezels.
TEC and his siblings bid farewell to the old Olympus High School before it was torn down. For a while both buildings stood together until they could move the students and everything else over to the new. We attended a wonderful production of Singing in the Rain, which concluded, appropriately, with a flooding of the stage. TEC walked us through the old halls after the show and shared some of his memories of high school days.
CAC just reminded me of something else that happened this spring. We took down our well-used crib for the last time and moved MEC into a big boy bed. For now, TLC enjoys his own room (complete with a piano), with RV and SC, and CA and ME sharing rooms, respectively.
I ran in my second half marathon. The Salt Lake Half was on a very rainy April 20 this year. Val and I managed to smile for both a before AND after picture, despite the cold and soaked conditions. It was great to share the experience with my sister, and a few neighborhood running friends.
Finally (for now), I had the opportunity to perform with the American Festival Chorus and Symphony, with conductor Craig Jessop, back in April. They performed two of Robert Cundick's Sacred Choral works: Song of Nephi and The Redeemer. It was such a wonderful experience that happened to fall at a busy time in our lives; I'm grateful for TEC being willing to help make it all work out. We even squeezed in a mini family vacation up to Logan for one night.
TEC's dad, brother Steve, two uncles, and a cousin also joined in on the experience. TEC and RVC, along with several other members of Boba's family came to the concert. I gained an even greater appreciation for the life's work of TEC's grandfather, and of course, I'll never forget the honor it was to be able to perform both works with him present in the audience.
