Valentines Day update

Happy Valentines Day.

There are a few things from this weekend that I want to write down.  First of all, in anticipation for some soon to arrive changes around here, TEC and I managed to break a way just the two of us...three times, in fact.  Not bad for the weekend before Valentines.  Of course, I'm including as one of those "dates" the time we spent together attending the Worldwide Leadership Training broadcast, which probably shouldn't count, but oh well.  It is always good to be together and reconnect--definitely felt like it had been too long.

We're nearing the due date for our little one, but it looks like he/she didn't feel the need to beat out sister CAC in arriving early.  That would have been Friday.  TEC thought Saturday, Feb 12th was the day, but we're still hanging around.  I'm not discouraged, by any means (it's still plenty early and this baby might just have enough sense to stay put for a while where things are significantly less chaotic), but I do start to wonder how long I can "happily" stay on top of all the little things that ideally will be in order when our baby decides to arrive--laundry, meals, house in general.  I guess the discouraging part is getting things in order once and then watching them fall apart again and facing the fact that things may not be just so when the time really comes.  But then again, I try to remember that we'll be just fine.  Laundry is never truly "done" anyways.

Part of what we had going against us for any baby arrival this weekend was the prayers of our ward Primary president.  Sister Wixom, Primary General President for the LDS Church, paid our primary a visit.  We had everything ready and though it was my turn to conduct our primary meetings, someone could have easily filled in for me.  Still, our ward president was hoping that we could all be there.  And it turned out to be such a special experience to have her with our primary; I'm glad that things worked out for me to be there.  Sister Wixom shared some sweet words with the kids about staying on the path back to our Heavenly Father and when she told them how much our prophet, President Monson, loves each of them, their faces lit up--even though they've heard that before many times.  The kids shared some sweet words with her as well.  I was so touched to hear the kids make comments that were pure testimony of the Savior and the Plan of Salvation.  It was a day that made me feel so lucky to spend my Sundays with the children.

So, today we celebrate Valentines Day.  The big kids were excited for their parties at school and SCC keeps asking me what surprises we can do for everyone while they're away.  I'm grateful for my sweethearts, one handsome one in particular...and for an excuse to let them know it today.
