a decade

That's just about the length of our family story right now, so I think I'll take a few moments to document it.

2000

Jan - JBC reports on her LDS mission to Ecuador, leaves for Columbus, OH to visit her sister and meet 6 month-old niece Samantha for the first time.  Learns a lot about what true love looks like while observing her sister and brother-in-law.  Decides last minute to go to a party at the end of the month.  Also in attendance at the party: TEC.

Feb - TEC asks JBC out to a hockey game (first date).  JBC starts working as a temp at the Waterford Institute while applying for graduate school at the U of U.  TEC attends the U and works as a meter-reader for Questar.

Apr - JBC and TED visit Tacoma, WA, where TEC is introduced to many of JBC's friends from college.  They decide on this trip that marriage is in the future.

Jun - engaged

Sep - Married on 2 Sep in Manti, UT.  We move into our basement appt on the corner of Crandall and Dearborn in Sugarhouse.  JBC starts a job 2 days later teaching math at the Waterford School.  TEC prepares for and takes the LSAT sometime in the fall.

Dec - Belated honeymoon to Catalina Island, Disneyland, and Los Angeles, CA.

2001

TEC graduates from the U of U with a degree in Accounting.  Gets accepted to Marshall Wythe School of Law at the College of William and Mary.  We move to Williamsburg, VA.  JBC teaches math at Woodside High School in Newport News, VA.

2002

We purchase a condo in Williamsburg.  JBC auditions for the Williamsburg Choral Guild.  TEC finishes his first year of law school and receives a summer internship from the US JAG Corp.  We spend the summer at the Army base in Mannheim, Germany and travel most of the weekends around parts of Europe.

2003

RVC is born in April.  TEC interns with 2 firms that summer--first in Cincinnati, OH.  We live there for 8 weeks, then move to SLC for the second internship with PYG.  Then back to Williamsburg for TEC's final year of law school.  JBC goes back teaching part-time.  Our good friend Kristel watches RVC every other week day.

2004

TEC graduates from law school.  We do some east-coast traveling with his family.  We move to Tyler, TX, where TEC begins a judicial clerkship with Judge Parker in the Federal Bankruptcy Court.  We enjoy living in our first home on Sneed Avenue.

2005

TLC is born in January.  We enjoy life in East Texas, and visits to Dallas, San Antonio, Houston, etc.  TEC travels to Beaumont with the Judge once a month.  We decide to stay for a third year.

2006

SCC is born in July.  We continue to enjoy the roses, azaleas, and blueberries, and continue to tolerate the heat and fire ants of East Texas.  JBC starts teaching piano lessons to a few students and we enjoy wonderful friendships.

2007

TEC completes his clerkship and we move to SLC where he starts working for Prince Yeates, doing mostly Bankruptcy law work.  TEC and JBC enjoy a trip to Chicago and Michigan sans kids.  We buy our home in Canyon Rim and enjoy living close to mountains, Tanner Park, the freeway entrance, and of course, our families.

2008

CAC is born in August.  RVC starts kindergarten and enjoys making new friends.  TLC starts a once-a-week pre school for speech.  All of us adjust to new schedules and life with 4 kids.  TEC puts in a back yard and sprinkler system--woo hoo.

2009

After renting out our basement for a little over a year, we spread out and enjoy our whole house.  We try out our first Utah garden.  We enjoy fun vacations and camping trips with our families.  TEC and JBC travel to Hawaii for an early anniversary celebration.  RVC starts 1st grade.  Lots of Utah football and basketball.  We have a wonderful Christmas and look forward to 2010 and another decade of adventures.
