Red October

I was about to leave October alone, but I just saw a few photos that I want to post along with some little things I want to remember.

I helped organize "Red Ribbon Week" at RVC's school along with my good friend T Peery.  We had different themes for each day of the week, but on Monday, we had PTA members go around to each classroom to explain what the week was all about and to have the kids sign their names on red "bricks" as a pledge to live drug-free.  This was our brick wall.

On the Friday, we surprised the kids with some "special guests" at a Red Rally assembly.  Coach Boylen came with Swoop and Runnin' Utes basketball players David Foster and Kim Tillie.  I would have loved a picture right next to these guys, but as you can see, little SCC was TERRIFIED.  She would run screaming down the hall every time Swoop came near.

The pictures don't quite do justice to how big those guys are.   But they were great with the kids.  And Coach had the kids' attention like nothing else--even the stinker kids all dressed up in their BYU blue (for Red Ribbon Week! can you believe it?...must have figured out our surprise).

It wasn't until Swoop came up to SCC after changing out of his costume to show her it was just a guy in there that she finally calmed down.  He opened up his bag and showed her the head.  After that, she kept wanting to give him a hug.  Funny girl.
