the truth

As far as I understand, an LCD screen on a computer monitor requires special care.

I'm pretty sure that you're not supposed to get fingerprints all over it; I'm almost positive that you're not supposed to color on it with pink crayon. Or rub gluestick all over it.

I had to confront a couple of kids about this not too long ago. TLC was sitting at the computer in our front room and called to me in the kitchen to come see what SCC was doing. By the time I came into the room, both kids were standing in front of the computer. The pink crayon and gluestick (cap missing) were sitting on the desk in front of the screen. The screen had lovely pink scribbles and bumpy trails of glue swirled all over it.

First I turned to TLC. "What happened?"

"SCC did it," he said.

"All by herself?" I asked.

"Yes," was his reply.

"Are you sure you didn't do some of it?" (These two are usually found getting into mischief as a pair. And unfortunately, TLC has tried to find his way out of things by lying. I wasn't sure I could trust him.)

"No. I didn't do any of it."

"That's the truth?"

"Yes. That's the truth."

So I believe him at this point and turn to child number two. "SCC, what happened?"

SCC's reply: "First I took the crayon and colored all over the computer. Then I took the glue and I put it all over it too."

Then, just in case I didn't believe her, she added, "And that's the truth."

This made me laugh! I'll bet you had to smile a bit too, despite your frustration over your damaged LCD monitor.
