Halloween details to come, but first...
There are so many fun things about having a child learn to read. I love driving around in the car and hearing RVC put together letters from signs and store fronts and then ask if she got it right. She is always inquiring about what she sees and noticing things I take for granted, like the date on the milk carton or a sign in a parking lot.
I'll say I even don't mind finding trails of paper around the house where she's practiced writing new words. Most of her words are from the computer or from something she's copied from the newspaper or our pile of mail. Yesterday, though, TEC found a sheet of paper on the table that he had to ask me about.
"FLOMAX," it read, nice and big across that clean sheet of paper. "What's this all about?" asked the child's father. Apparently, my daughter is paying more attention to ads than I realize (well, actually I still have hope that her attention was drawn more to the word and not so much the content of the ad). I was glad that RVC wasn't in the room, because I had a hard time holding my laughter in and didn't want her to feel bad. She had done a very nice job, after all.
