President's Day

We have fallen behind on the updates lately. I'll start by posting a bit about our holiday weekend. With a Monday off, TEC normally would have zipped up to the cabin right after work on Friday, but being that it was the weekend of our stake conference and I had some choir commitments, we stuck around in Salt Lake for a bit--TEC, along with the kids and the dog, left Saturday night after the adult session; I drove up with his parents on Sunday after conference (yes, that meant a night and a morning all by myself...very nice, though a bit strange. Unfortunately, most of the evening was spent cleaning floors and putting away toys...but at least it was quiet).

We enjoyed all the usual up at the cabin, except that there was more snow than I have ever seen up there. The road up to the cabin (also used as the sledding hill) had been plowed and there must have been 5 feet of snow on either side in some places. Snow had covered and filled the back porch of the cabin, and where the railing had been knocked down by the weight of the snow was to become the top of a perfect tubing hill for the kids.

TEC hit the more serious sledding early before breakfast, along with his dad and Paul. RVC and TLC joined them for a few runs, but without the sun up to help keep them warm, they didn't last long. As for myself, I missed the sledding this trip (instead I tried to get some action pictures...to this result), but did try out the mini tubing hill later on.

Here are a few more photos of our fun in the snow.
