We enjoyed a visit from Papa this weekend. He had business in Dallas during the week and was able to break away to see us for a couple of days--just enough time to hit a few favorite restaurants, help T fix our deck, swim in our state-of-the-art shark pool, and, of course, spend time with the grandkids. It was nice to have him here and we look forward to September, when he'll be back with Grams.
Tomorrow we head up to Dallas for an appointment with a pediatric neurologist. TL has had what is known as severe breath-holding spells since about 9 months old. When he gets hurt or upset, he holds his breath like he's had the wind knocked out of him. He starts to turn blue, gets really stiff, and then after what seems to be a really long time, catches his breath again. What happens next ranges from falling asleep or lying semi-conscious for a few more minutes to seizure-like activity. Everything we've read indicates that this is something that he will outgrow, and though it's never easy to watch, we have learned to deal with it. We've had several tests done that have come back normal, but we're following the recommendation of our pediatrician to see the neurologist to make sure we haven't missed anything. Our gut feeling is that the neurologist will just reassure us that things are okay...we'll go with that for now.
