We're new to the whole "blog" thing, but figure it's probably the best way to go when you live away from family. Today a little girl from our ward came to spend the morning with us so her mom could go to a doctor's appointment up in Dallas. R was thrilled to have a friend over. She loves being with other kids; over the last week or so, she has played with just about every kid she knows in Texas, but still keeps asking, "Now who's coming to my house?" "Now who are we going to play with?"
T is about as close as he can get to walking without just doing it. He zips around our house pushing R's shopping cart, which has about no resistance, so we're just waiting for him to take a big fall when we're not watching. He's slowing overcoming his separation anxiety from mom (R was much more used to being around other people--probably because I would leave her every other day to go to work). I teach piano lessons two days a week and R & T stay back in the family room with the moms and siblings--T seems to be enjoying being around other kids too, even though he mostly just crawls through all their games.
We're hoping to start decorating for Christmas soon. We have to wait until after the ward Christmas party on Saturday because we're borrowing a fake tree that will be used for decoration that night. We had a real tree last year and it worked great because we were staying here (and we didn't have an almost 1-year-old that would just LOVE picking up fallen pine needles!), but we decided that it would make more sense to go with a fake one. Pretty sad, since we had a fake one in Williamsburg that we got rid of before the move...oh well. It seems strange to be decorating for Christmas already anyways...no real winter weather around here.
